Diabetes Daze: Communicating to Patients with Diabetes

This customized three-hour workshop addresses the key role of health care professionals.  Research has shown that with advances in diabetes care, there has been only a slight improvement with HbA1c.  Medical professionals will sharpen the message they need to deliver to their patients.  Beyond treatment, empathy and compassion are required to deliver to their patients.

Purpose:

To educate health care professionals on effective communication tools for patients with diabetes.

Objectives:

  • Gain perspective of life with a chronic, incurable illness.
  • Examine the role that self-efficacy plays in a patient’s life.
  • Identify five pitfalls to avoid when talking to a patient.
  • Discover the best communication practices.

 

Who should attend?

  • Leadership, providers, staff and patient partners from health systems.
